Millinery: Flat brimmed fedora
This was made for a university brief and consequently used in the ‘save our seas’ project.
Modelled on a 1950s men’s fedora in a bottle green colour. I started with a felt hood which I stretched and steamed over a fedora head block and with the remaining hood I steamed and pinned it on a flat board to created the brim. The brim in then wired and hand finished with petersham ribbon.
This was a very technical piece of work but I enjoyed creating the fedora shape and making sure all the lines were crisp and clean.
